I've heard great things about KG BBQ for over a year now but never found the time to try it until last week. Popular for blending Texas barbecue with some traditional Egyptian flavors, this barbecue trailer offers some of your usual barbecue meats but also provides its own unique twist on some dishes. When we arrived on a late Sunday morning, the line already wrapped halfway around the brewery next door - and when we had finished around 1pm, the line was twice as long as it was when we had started! It took us around an hour from getting in line to getting our food since they took a break from taking orders to let the kitchen catch up. Once you order, you can grab a table outside, or inside the brewery in case it gets too hot. Now for the food: Brisket: Good bark, nice smoky flavor. However, the slices we got were quite dry, which was disappointing. Maybe it was just an off day, but I would skip this next time. 2/5 Pomegranate glazed ribs: Great balance of flavors - the rich, smoky, fall-off-the-bone pork cut through by the slightly sweet, slightly sour pomegranate glaze made this one of the best ribs I've had in Austin. The pomegranate added a freshness that helped counteract all the heaviness of the meat. 5/5 Tri tip (Sunday special): Tender, smoky, and had that characteristic beefy flavor that usually accompanies a nicely cooked piece of Tri tip. Came with a chimichurri that was a little heavy on the salt, but in small amounts added some nice notes. Nothing crazy about this dish in my opinion - still a good Tri tip. 4/5 Mac and cheese: Creamy, cheesy, and topped with some spices that really set this side apart. The za'atar sprinkled on the top of this added an earthy, nutty flavor that worked really well with the richness of the bechamel and pasta. One of my favorites, although I'm always a sucker for a good Mac and cheese. 5/5 Potato salad: Pink potato salad with a heavy yogurt and dill flavor. I really enjoyed this but my girlfriend did not, so if you don't like dill this might not be for you. 4.5/5 Baladi Salad: Refreshing and tart - has the classic Mediterranean flavors you'd expect from this type of salad. Tomatoes and cucumbers were fresh and crisp, with the vinegar and cumin keeping the palette ready for more. As good or better as you'd get anywhere else. 4/5

Egyptian BBQ has made it to the top of my favorite things to eat in Austin. The flavors here make my taste buds sing. Operating out of a food truck in the parking lot of a brewery, this place, and all its flavors, packs a punch. I can see why it's so popular! By the time we rolled around, there were a number of items that were sold out, but we did manage to score some brisket and lamb chops. The brisket was moist and tender; everything you could want in a brisket. I'm a fan of lamb and those lamb chops really hit the spot. The flavor and the cook was on point. We paired this with a number of sides to round out the meal. The mac and cheese - need I say more? It was ooey gooey perfection. The baladi salad was bright, vibrant, and fresh. Pay extra for the feta. The creaminess of it will round the whole salad out. The cardamom and pistachio rice pudding was something else. I'm usually not a fan of pistachio, but paired with cardamom, I was happily blown away by this dessert. The flavors were perfectly balanced without being sweet and it was a great way to end a meat-heavy meal. I'll definitely be coming back, but at a much earlier time so my taste buds can rotate across the different meats.

Came in on a Sunday at noon as part of a trip to Austin Food 5/5: we got the brisket, the lamb chops, a sausage link, and the tri-tip special they had that day. Also got their potato salad and cucumber salad. Lamb chops and sausage links were great, brisket and tri-tip were average Ambiance 4/5: they have a partnership with the brewery next to where they are parked and it's a nice space to eat in and knock back a few beers. Nothing that wows about the ambiance but chill and relaxing Service 2/5: took quite a bit of time to get our food although they're pretty busy. Not sure if it's because of the partnership but not much service while eating at the brewery ‍ Value 3/5: fairly average pricing for the food they're selling, wouldn't say it's good value but it's fair. Total 4/5: didn't include ambiance and service into assessment since really it's a food truck Parking: limited spots in the parking lot, otherwise needs to park across the street, can be a pain.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! My husband recommended this Egyptian cowboy bbq fusion and obviously I questioned it. After some research we knew that they sell out. We for there right around the time it was supposed to open and there was probably about 20 people ahead of us. Mac n cheese was good but the brisket bowl was DELICIOUS. The flavors that mixed went so well together. The servings were big so we did share. I didn't love the baladi salad just because of the strong cumin flavor. Overall would return for sure and try more things out! Inspiring story about the chef if you look it up. Very quick service even though the long is line it was worth it. Outdoor tables to eat with fans above you so definitely don't feel the Austin heat as much. 10/10 recommend
